Amy Cleveland, Secretary/Chief Examiner, Administrative Services Department
Background:
Based on Civil Service Rule V, Registers, Initial Eligibility Lists, two initial eligibility lists were established with candidates who passed the Public Safety Testing written and physical exams. These 30 candidates were invited to the phase 1 suitability assessment. Of those 30, 18 candidates participated in the phase 1 suitability assessment, and 9 passed. Those 9 candidates were invited to oral interviews; 1 candidate withdrew, and 4 of the 8 remaining candidates successfully passed the oral interviews.
Public Safety Testing gathers EEO information from candidates. However, PST recently discovered a malfunction in their system, and the EEO information from this group of candidates is available for only a small number of candidates. Of the original 30 candidates examined, 1 candidate was female and 29 were male. Two were Asian/Pacific Islander, 2 were Caucasian, 2 were two or more races, and 23 were unknown. The interview panels consisted of Olympia Police, Assistant City Manager Jay Burney, Sergeant Sam Costello, and OPD Administrative Services Manager Laura Wohl, and OFD Captain Kate McDonald.
Findings: Four candidates passed the written exam, physical ability test, phase 1 suitability assessment and oral interview and have been placed on the register in accordance with their scores. Final ranking scores range from 97.51% to 84.07%.
