Background and Analysis:

Earlier this month, five Olympia Heritage Commissioners and Ms. Sadlier attended a training program run by the National Alliance of Preservation Commissions (<https://napcommissions.org/>).  The stated goal of the NAPC’s Commission Assistance & Mentoring Program (CAMP) is:

to provide high-quality, engaging and informative training to preservation related boards and commissions of all types through presentations, hands-on exercises, group discussions and networking (mentoring) opportunities via live training. Trainers include commissioners, local, state and national staff members, attorneys and commission partners.

The agenda for the program is provided in Attachment 1.  Commissioner Vann will lead a discussion of lessons learned at the CAMP training.  This group discussion will include the U.S. Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation (Attachment 2), the standards the City of Olympia uses to evaluate development applications.
