Background and Analysis:
A 2015 Thurston County Economic Development Council Survey identified parking as a significant barrier to economic growth in Downtown. Downtown Strategy, adopted in 2016, called for an updated Parking Strategy to support its vision and goals. The draft Parking Strategy addresses the parking needs of Olympia today, with wide ranging recommendations to better manage parking resources. These recommendations are the result of occupancy analysis, stake-holder workshops, public surveys, and informed by the parking industry’s best practices.
