Background and Analysis:

On December 13, 2018, the Arts Commission approved three finalists for the West Bay Art Crossings project to be interviewed by members of the original jury. These interviews are scheduled for January 9, 2019.  The three finalists are the teams of Jennifer Kuhns and Jill Carter, Lin McJunkin and Milo White, and Abe Singer. The interview panel includes Bob Droll, Landscape Architect; Diana Fairbanks, Olympia Arts Commission; and Kendra Sawyer, Neighborhood Representative. Carole Richmond, Planning Commissioner

Neighborhood/Community Interests (if known):

Neighborhood participation has been solicited at each step in the process, including representation on the jury.

 

Options:

1.                     Forward the jury recommendation to Council for consideration.

2.                     Do not forward the jury recommendation to Council for consideration.

3.                     Recommend a different course of action.

 

Financial Impact:

$50,000 from the Municipal Art Fund for design and fabrication of the art, and up to $25,000 for site preparation and installation.
