Background and Analysis:

We’ve ran successful summer camps for many years, and we have always looked for opportunities to expand to meet the needs of the community.  This summer, rather than expanding, we shifted what we do to offer camps that not only fit the needs of the community, but also were compliant with the recommendations of health care organizations. We leaned on the Thurston County Health Department often throughout the summer when we had questions and it was a great partnership.

Some of the changes we made were separating our larger camps into smaller groups, using more class space at the schools, using larger rooms for maximum spacing, lowering maximum numbers on our larger camps, having parents drop-off and pick-up at local destinations rather than transporting the children and encouraging staff to be creative in using the outdoors as much as possible throughout the summer.
