Issue:
Whether to approve the Arts Commission recommendation of 16 sculptures for the upcoming exhibition on Percival Landing. Following a month of public voting, one sculpture will be purchased for the City of Olympia public art collection.

Background and Analysis:
The jury met on Monday, March 1 to review 24 submitted sculptures. The jury was comprised of Jim Burlingame, Arts Commission Vice-Chair, and artists Lin McJunkin and Travis Johnson. Prior to jury review, all submitted sculptures were reviewed by City staff for a visual structure assessment. Jurors reviewed the work based on a number of criteria including quality of work and attention to craft, safety requirements and community engagement.

Seventeen sculptures were recommended by the Arts Commission to City Council for approval on March 11, with no proposed alternates. Since that time, one of the recommended sculptures has become no longer available for loan, resulting in the final slate of sixteen sculptures.

In 2020, 368 votes were received for the Peoples' Prize Award.
