Background and Analysis:

The Ad Hoc Committee on Public Safety created a scope of work when it was established in September 2020. The scope of work calls for the Committee to regularly update Council and to recommend topics for City Council work sessions.

 

A Council work session is scheduled for Tuesday, April 20, 2021. Staff will present a draft agenda and seek the Committee’s input on the work session objectives, agenda, and meeting design.

 

Neighborhood/Community Interests (if known):

The City is launching a community-wide public engagement process to reimagine public safety in 2021.

 

Options:

1.                     Approve the April 20, 2021 Council work session agenda and meeting design and forward to the full City Council.

2.                     Amend the April 20, 2021 work session agenda and meeting design based on the Committee’s input and forward to the full City Council.

3.                     Do not approve the April 20, 2021 work session agenda and direct staff to present a revised agenda and approach.
