Background and Analysis:
City staff were contacted by representatives from the Department of Enterprise and asked if a member of the BPAC would like to serve on a “community sounding board” to provide feedback on the Deschutes estuary restoration project.
Members of the community sounding board will be expected to:
• Attend at least three virtual meetings: one 1-hour meeting in late January and two 3-hour meetings later this year. DES has not decided if the meetings will be held during the day or evening.
• Prepare for meetings by reviewing and considering the material provided before each meeting.
They are offering a stipend of $35 for the 1-hour meeting and $100 per 3-hour meeting.
If the BPAC chooses to send a representative to this group, staff recommends also selecting an alternate in case the primary representative is unable to attend. Staff also encourages the representative to share updates with the BPAC, either during the announcements section of upcoming BPAC meetings or as a separate agenda item when needed.
Options:
Option 1: Choose a BPAC member and alternate to serve as a representative to the Deschutes estuary restoration project community sounding board.
Option 2: Not appoint a BPAC member to serve.
Financial Impact:
None noted.
