Background and Analysis:
By law, the State Auditor's Office (SAO) is required to audit the activities of Olympia Metropolitan Parks District (OMPD). The financial and accountability audit performed by SAO is on a two-year schedule. The financial and accountability audits were performed in 2023 for the two previous fiscal years, 2021 & 2022. SAO's financial audit of OMPD activities resulted an unmodified opinion and determined that the financial statements were presented fairly in all material respects. There were no audit findings associated with the financial audit. SAO's accountability audit of OMPD's activities found that District operations complied, in all material respects, with applicable state laws, regulations, and its own policies, and provided adequate controls over the safeguarding of public resources.
