Background and Analysis:

City of Olympia code establishing the CAAB includes a requirement for the Board to report to City Council annually.  A draft of the content for the program’s first Annual Report has been prepared for CAAB review and approval, following which program staff will incorporate Board comments, complete illustrative graphics, and forward to City Council.

This initial report covers the period from July 1 2023 through June 30 2024.  During this period the CAAB finalized program funding goals that shaped the development of the administrative framework for Inspire Olympia’s granting program.  Outcomes of this first year’s effort to stand up the program will not be available for complete reporting until this time next year, and future annual reports will be more comprehensive in addressing the impacts of cultural access in the Olympia community.

Climate Analysis:

The Annual Report report will be distributed electronically, with printing limited to on-demand.

Equity Analysis:

Advancing equitable access to experiences in the arts, culture, heritage and sciences for all citizens, with special emphasis on youth and marginalized populations, is a core Program Funding Goal for Inspire Olympia.  Equity has also been a focus in program development, with strategies to ensure that all interested organizations across a diverse field of nonprofits in size, sophistication, budget savvy, and experience are able to compete for Inspire Olympia funding. Funding outcomes this year met projections for the proportion of cultural access awarded to larger vs. smaller organizations in this first funding round. Future annual reports will seek to offer information gleaned from reporting and program data on the extent to which equity is being advanced in the community -what, where, for whom -- through the work of these Inspire Olympia programs.
