Background and Analysis:

On December 14, 2023, Commissioners reviewed the jury recommendation of three semi-finalists for the Grass Lake Nature Park Public Art Project. Interviews were conducted on Wednesday January 3. One of the finalists removed their application during the interim, due to an already ambitious work schedule.

The jury committee remained the same, with the exception of Ms. Folden, who was unable to attend:

Sarah Folden, Contemporary Coast Salish artist, member of the Cowlitz Indian Tribe

Neal Glassburn, Project Engineer, Parks, Arts & Recreation
Austen Lyon, Artist and welder
Felix Pugh, Citizen Science Institute Alum and Olympia High School Senior
Katherine Ransom, Olympia Arts Commissioner

Ms. Johnson will share the recommendation at the Arts Commission meeting.

If approved, final recommendation will be made to the City Council on January 23.
