Issue:

Whether to receive a presentation from representatives from St. Peter Hospital about a Community Care Facility that they are proposing at 225 State Avenue.

Background and Analysis:

St. Peter Hospital and the Providence St. Peter Foundation propose to create a Community Care Center in Downtown Olympia.  They have submitted a pre-submission application to site the facility at 225 State Ave in the former Bayside Quilting site.

 

Their proposal is described as:

The building located at 225 State Avenue is being considered to locate as a tenant the Olympia Community Care Center to coordinate and provide health care services for the downtown at-risk population. The project will include a day room with shower, laundry and rest room facilities to provide access to basic hygiene needs, office space for staff, and medical care clinic facilities.

 

The project is proposed to be constructed in 3 Phases:

Phase l: Day Room, Office Space, Rest Rooms

Phase 2: Expansion of Day Room, Office Space, Showers, Laundry, Rest Rooms Phase 3: Medical Clinic Exam Rooms

 

Michelle James and Geoff Glass with St. Peter Hospital will be present to provide an overview of the facility and to respond to questions from the committee.

 

Neighborhood/Community Interests:

The proposed Community Care Facility is located downtown and is interest to the Downtown Neighborhood and the broader community.

 

Options:

Hear report and provide feedback to City staff and St. Peter representatives.

 

Financial Impact:

None at this time.  The Program Year 2016 Community Development Block Grant budget includes $200,000 in funding for this facility.
