Recognition of the Olympia-based and internationally recognized brewing company on having their Fish Tale Ale Beyond the Pale Ale named the 2015 Best Beer in the World.

Background and Analysis:
Olympia-based, Fish Brewing Company was founded in 1993 by Crayne and Mary Horton. It operates a 40-barrel brew house and brew pub on Jefferson Avenue in downtown Olympia. Fish Brewing’s Fish Tale Ale’s Beyond the Pale Ale was recently named the 2015 World’s Best Beer by the World Beer Awards.
The World Beer Awards are an annual global competition, selecting the very best internationally recognized beer styles. Beers must be generally available and for sale in bottles or cans. Judging is blind with regional style heats held in Asia, Europe and the Americas.
All regions have their own Chairman and group of judges who select the style winners in their region. Style winners from all regions are then tasted against each other to select the World's Best Style. From these world winners the judges then select the World's Best categories, from which the World's Best Beer is selected.
In 2015, more than 1,000 beers from more than 30 countries entered the competition. The final two rounds were held in London, where 50 international brewers, industry experts and journalists tasted and voted on the World’s Best Beers.
In addition to taking The World’s Best Beer honors, Fish Brewing Co. was also awarded America’s Best Black IPA for its Reel Ales Swordfish Double Cascadian Dark Ale, and its Leavenworth Boulder Bend Dunkelweizen won America’s Best Dark Beer.
Fish Brewing Company was also named the 2015 Washington State Brewery of the Year at the Washington Beer Awards competition.
