Move to approve the 2024 Council Meeting Calendar and Committee assignments and approve that, when possible, the City Council would like to plan for a two-year, non-election-year cycle of committee and interjurisdictional assignments with room for off-year adjustments when requested.

Issue:
Whether to approve the 2024 Council Meeting Calendar and Committee assignments and approve that, when possible, the City Council would like to plan for a two-year, non-election-year cycle of committee and interjurisdictional assignments with room for off-year adjustments when requested. When put to an advisory vote, the City Council passed the proposed change with a vote of six to one, to be ratified as part of the updates to the Council Guidebook.

Background and Analysis:
At its 2024 Annual Retreat, Councilmembers reviewed and updated the Council Meeting Calendar and the Committee assignments.
When possible, the City Council would like to plan for a two-year, non-election-year cycle of committee and interjurisdictional assignments with room for off-year adjustments when requested. When put to an advisory vote, the City Council passed the proposed change with a vote of six to one, to be ratified as part of the updates to the Council Guidebook.
The Assignment of Committee Members and Mayor Pro Tem are as follows:
• Mayor Pro Tem - Yến Huýnh
• Finance Committee - Lisa Parshley - Chair, Jim Cooper, Clark Gilman
• Community Livability and Public Safety - Yến Huýnh - Chair, Dontae Payne, Clark Gilman
• Land Use & Environment Committee - Dani Madrone - Chair, Roert Vanderpool, Jim Cooper

The approval of the 2024 Council calendar and assignments does not have a direct effect on the climate, however several of the committee and interjurisdictional assignments contribute to the planning and work to address climate issues in our region.

Options:
1. Approve the 2024 Council Meeting Calendar and Committee assignments, and approve that, when possible, the City Council would like to plan for a two-year, non-election-year cycle of committee and interjurisdictional assignments with room for off-year adjustments when requested.
2. Do not approve the 2023 Council Meeting Calendar and Committee assignment or two-year, non-election-year cycle of committee and interjurisdictional assignments with room for off-year adjustments when requested.
