Background and Analysis:
On May 19, 2015, the City Council approved a scope for the Downtown Strategy. On September 1, 2015, following an extensive selection process, the City Council directed staff to negotiate a specific scope of work (contract) for Downtown Strategy consultant services with MAKERS architecture and urban design, LLP (attachment 1.)
The City’s budget for Downtown Strategy consulting services is $250,000. The proposed contract is consistent with the Downtown Strategy scope approved by the City Council on May 19. It also provides a further level of detail to guide how the $250,000 budget will be allocated to various elements of the strategy over time, as well as among prime and sub-consultants.
On October 13, staff will present the Downtown Strategy public participation details to Council under Special Recognition. This will include a graphic summary of the process, with key steps, dates and outcomes. The public participation details will then be heavily advertised through the month of October.
