The proposed update to the Olympia School District (OSD) Impact fees is based on the adoption by the School Board of the District’s 2018-2023 Capital Facilities Plan (CFP). The Assistant Superintendent presented their CFP and proposed impact fee changes to the Council on November 21.
The impact fee rates are calculated based, in part, on the projects identified in the District’s CFP that are needed to address future growth. School impact fees are charged only to residential projects inside Olympia city limits. The City collects the fees on behalf of the school district and remits the fees with interest to them on a monthly basis. Based on the school districts approved CFP, the fees are as follows:
2017 2018
Single Family $5,298 $5,350 ($52 increase over 2017)
Multi-Family $2,510 $2,621 ($101 increase over 2017)
City Council can only adopt the changes proposed in the 2018-2023 Capital Facilities Plan adopted by the OSD Board of Directors. The City has no basis for changing the calculations for the school impact fees.
