Background and Analysis:

Staff have reviewed the benefits of participating in cooperative purchasing programs and concluded that programs like this provide additional value to the residents of the City with the anticipated efficiencies and cost savings of procuring goods and services cooperatively with other government and non-profit entities. The City is currently a member of several cooperative purchasing programs located as far away as Texas and Pennsylvania.

City staff are recommending the City secure the option to procure goods and services through cooperative contracts managed by the Arizona Cooperative Purchasing Program (ACPP). City staff will be able streamline the purchasing of goods and services, such as equipment, fleet vehicles, technology, etc., while also taking advantage of the lower prices the ACPP is able to negotiate with its collective purchasing power.

Climate Analysis:

Joining the ACPP provides the City with greater opportunities to procure environmentally friendly goods and services.

Equity Analysis:

Joining the ACPP provides the City with greater opportunities to do business with small and disadvantaged businesses.

Neighborhood/Community Interests (if known):
