Background and Analysis:
By State Law, the Lodging Advisory Committee has two members from lodging establishments who pay the tax, two members from groups potentially eligible to provide lodging tax funded tourism services, and a Councilmemberr who is chair.

Regarding the hotel/motel appointees, Olympia has traditionally appointed one member from a large establishment and one member from a small establishment or bed and breakfast.

Councilmember Hankins serves as Chair of the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee. She requested reappointment of the current members to provide continuity while the committee works to refine its annual lodging tax recommendation process.

Recommended Re-Appointments:
Russ Carstensen - two year term ending March 31, 2015.  Mr. Carstensen is a member of the Olympia Kiwanis and has been active for many years with Olympia Harbor Days - a local group potentially eligible to provide lodging tax funded tourism services.

Nathan Allan - three year term ending March 31, 2016. Mr. Allan is owner / proprietor of the Swantown Inn Bed and Breakfast located in Olympia.

Greg Taylor - three year term ending March 31, 2016. Mr. Taylor is a regional manager with Aimbridge Hospitality, the owner of the Phoenix Inn & Suites, and former General Manager of the Olympia Phoenix Inn.
