Background and Analysis:

New Cingular Wireless PCS, LLC has been leasing space from the City of Olympia since 2002. They are requesting to enter into a new five-year lease term with the City of Olympia.

 

The properties are located at the Boulevard Road Water Storage Tank (2711 Log Cabin Road SE) and Bush Street Water Storage Tank (505 Birch Street NW).

 

The City of Olympia enters into these lease agreements with New Cingular Wireless PCS, LLC as Lessor.  They will be compensating the City of Olympia for the ground, antenna, and utilities easement portion of the leases. The Water Utility will receive a total of $255,061 over the next five years. The annual lease rates are consistent with other agencies in our area and other western Washington public agencies.

Options:

1.                     Approve the Antenna Lease Agreement with New Cingular Wireless PCS, LLC.

Implications:

                     The annual rents provide revenue to the Water Utility’s annual operating budget.

                     It is consistent with the City of Olympia’s Wireless Telecommunication Master Plan. 

 

 

2.                     Do not approve the Antenna Lease Agreement with New Cingular Wireless PCS, LLC.

Implications:

                     The Water Utility would lose over $47,000 in annual revenue.

 

Financial Impact:

The revenue to the Water Utility from the two leases is $47,091.20 for the first year.  Annual rent will increase four (4) percent per year for the remaining five (5) years of the lease, with revenue totaling $255,061.13.
