Background and Analysis:
Thurston County, through the offices of Medic One, and the City of Olympia has had a contract for paramedic services for over 35 years. The most recent version of the contract was signed on February 7, 2012 with an expiration date of December 31, 2017. During the end of the year billing in 2012, it was discovered that one paragraph from the agreed upon WORD version did not transfer into the signed PDF version of the contract. The missing paragraph dealt with reimbursement for uniforms. The County recognized that this was in error and made payment to the City for the full contracted amount.

The loss of information from the agreed upon version to the signed version is called a scrivener's error. The correction is a housekeeping issue, not requiring the action of the City Council to re-approve the signature by the Mayor but doing so confirms the City's intent of February 2012.

Neighborhood/Community Interests (if known):
N/A

Options:
This contract correction continues a relationship between the City and County that has served both parties very well. Correcting this scrivener's error cleans up a housekeeping issue in the contract. It otherwise does not change any of the terms of the agreed upon contract.

Accept the corrected agreement and authorize the Mayor to sign the documents.

The Board of County Commissioners will sign the documents following the signature by the City of Olympia.

Financial Impact:
This agreement to provide paramedic services brings over $2,000,000 of revenue to the Fire Department each year. Correcting this error continues this long and mutually beneficial working arrangement.
