Background and Analysis:
On November 25, 2024 Mayor Dontae Payne shared a public statement after election results were published. His statement emphasizes unity, respect for the democratic process, and commitment to Olympia's core values. Mayor Payne thanked residents for participating in the election and reaffirmed the City Council's dedication to principles like equity, inclusion, and belonging.
The chair for Social Justice and Equity Commission was inspired by the Mayor's statement and drafted a letter on behalf of the Commission, affirming the Commission's commitment to these values and the Commission's work to foster equity and create a culture of belonging for all members of our community.

Equity Analysis:
The purpose of the Social Justice & Equity Commission is to advise the City Council and staff in addressing discrimination and assist with the sharing of community member resources. Members also serve to enable those from historically marginalized communities to have a voice in City government.
