Background and Analysis:
The City received grant funding to send two people to the PLACES conference in Ellensburg, WA this year. Commissioner Bowman and Staff attended the conference and have key points and takeaways to share.
Climate Analysis:
Attendees used gasoline fueled cars as transportation to the conference, however, during the event attendees were able to walk between lodging, sessions, and meals.
Equity Analysis:
The Heritage Commission is dedicated to providing information to the community about historic homes, the Olympia Heritage Register, cultural heritage projects, and more. As such, the Commission is working to achieve outreach and engagement that reaches new demographics and creates opportunities for all who may be interested to participate in the City’s historic events and heritage projects. Attending PLACES created opportunities to meet people from other cities to learn about their successes and challenges in meaningful outreach and engagement in their communities.
