Title
Agenda Item:
Ordinance Adopting Fire System Permit Fee Structure Change
Body
Issue:
The current manual fee structure for fire system permits does not easily transfer to the new "One Solution" system being implemented by Community Planning and Development (CP&D). City Council must approve the deletion of the old manual fee charge and adopt the new automated system for calculating fees.

Committee Recommendation:
Not referred to a committee.

City Manager's Recommendation:
Move to adopt on first reading and forward to second reading an ordinance providing for automated system calculation of fire permit fees.

Background and Analysis:
OMC Chapter 4.38, Section 4.38.010 details the current fee chart used to calculate permit and plan review fees for fire protection systems, underground storage tanks, etc. The chart is used by CP&D Permit Technicians to determine appropriate fees to be charged. Under "One Solution", the fee calculations for both building and fire permits can be done automatically by the system. Modifying the manual fire permit fee structure as shown in Attachment 1 brings it in line with the CP&D methodology for implementation of "One Solution".

The proposed minor modification allows the automated system to calculate fees automatically based on project value. There is no significant change in the actual fees.
