Background and Analysis:
The Olympia Fire Department has developed a high-performance training program and has built a state-of-the-art training complex, the Mark Noble Regional Fire Training Center (MNRFTC). This training program and facility support the department's firefighting effort through readiness and safety training of the fire department personnel, making them a more effective tool in the protection of the citizens of Olympia and our Regional partners.
The City of Olympia (City) and Thurston County Fire Protection District 3 (District) currently have an Interlocal Agreement for joint training services and the usage of MNRFTC. This Amendment to the current Interlocal Agreement will allow for an annual fee increase in 2023, an expanded amount of time to determine an annual fee increase in the future and provides a clear billing procedure for the usage of District employees as regional training instructors.
