Background and Analysis:
The City of Olympia has submitted an application to the Department of Archaeology and Historic Preservation (DAHP) for the 2027 grant award year. The grant application focuses on education and outreach activities to support the current momentum of the City’s historic preservation programming. On September 4th, Staff will do a presentation for DAHP’s grant selection committee.

The grant application focuses on education and outreach. Every opportunity to provide community engagement and access to information is a chance for the Olympia Heritage Commission to share knowledge to new audiences and community members of all backgrounds. The grant proposal includes reprinting of several historic brochures and materials, many of which focus on underrepresented groups in Olympia’s history.
