Background and Analysis:
The City is developing a long-term approach to address sidewalk repair. This will help guide and complement the work of the four-person crew we are currently in the process of hiring to fix sidewalks. As part of the policy development, staff has launched an online public outreach tool called a story map. Embedded in the story map are surveys to ask people about some possible policy approaches the City may take.
The surveys close March 20th. After they close, staff plans to share preliminary results within the story map by May 4th. That month, we plan to share a proposed policy with the Planning Commission, BPAC, and the City Council’s Land Use and Environment Committee for feedback. Our goal is to have a vetted policy to share with the City Council in a study session in July.
Staff will provide an overview of the story map and the forthcoming policy discussions surrounding this work.
