Background and Analysis:

Climate Analysis:

Libraries, as respected community and resource centers, help community members learn about climate change. Public libraries are increasingly opening their doors as cooling centers during heat and other extreme weather conditions.

Equity Analysis:

Libraries have historically provided services to older, lower-income and unhoused patrons who otherwise do not have access to many of the services they provide.

One of Timberland Regional Library’s focus areas for their 2020 - 2024 Strategic Direction is Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in order to reach those with disabilities and other access barriers; reflect under-represented groups in their collections, staff, and services and partner with local agencies and organizations to support diverse communities.

Neighborhood/Community Interests (if known):

The library serves as a vital hub for the community.
