Background and Analysis:
Quince Street Village is a 100-unit tiny home village managed by Catholic Community Services that became fully operational in September of this year. The program was previously operated downtown and referred to as the “Mitigation Site” and had an operational capacity of about 50 residents. Upon the transition of the village, the site was expanded to 100 tiny homes to increase community support.
To increase the number of tiny home units, the City called upon the Faith Alliance Initiative for Tiny Houses (FAITH Alliance) volunteers to construct 18 units onsite. The team worked over a 6-week period totaling 1,121 volunteer hours bringing this village to full capacity. They used their experience from working at other tiny home villages in the community such as Hope Village at Westminster Presbyterian and New Hope Village at First Christian Church to work efficiently and creatively to make the units safe and healthy and a place to call home.
The City recognizes and thanks the Faith for all of their work and selfless leadership and is excited to be presenting the Proclamation of service at City Council.
