Background and Analysis:
On August 23, 2016, Council approved the slate of proposed designs for public vote for the east side Traffic Box Public Art Project. The proposals were received from 99 area artists, across a wide range of design and materials.
Voting took place September 1-30. The public was invited to participate digitally through the City's Facebook site or in-person at The Olympia Center. 30,737 votes were received in total. The Olympia Arts Commission reviewed the top 10 designs and two alternates at their October 13 meeting. The motion to recommend the slate of images to Council was unanimously approved.
Once approved by Council, the images will move into fabrication, to be reprinted on vinyl and installed on 10 boxes on Olympia's east side. The wraps are expected to last for several years.
