Background and Analysis:

The City of Olympia’s Federal lobbying team, Rick Desimone and Liz Fortunato, will provide an overview of key legislative developments at the national level. The briefing will highlight federal policy actions, funding opportunities, and legislative outcomes that align with the City’s priorities, and offer an opportunity for Council discussion and questions.

 

Climate Analysis:

The City of Olympia’s 2025 Federal Legislative Agenda includes supporting the clean-up of Capitol Lake and the restoration of the Deschutes Estuary, addresses sea level rise in Budd Inlet to minimize flooding, protects critical infrastructure and assets, and supports and protects coastal ecosystems necessary to help restore salmon and other native species.

 

Equity Analysis:

The agenda prioritizes federal action on issues impacting marginalized communities, including increased investment in affordable housing, homelessness response, and support for equitable access to federal resources.
