Background and Analysis:

2012 Construction Projects:
The Public Works Technical Services Line of Business manages the design and construction of Public Works projects. In 2012, Technical Services managed 16 construction projects in support of Facilities, Water Resources, and Transportation, totaling approximately $22 million.

Following are some of the 2012 construction highlights:

Transportation
· 18th Avenue Improvements
· Pavement Preservation (Chip Seal)
· Audible Pedestrian Signals
· Capitol Way and Cooper Point Road Paving
· Cooper Point Pedestrian Crossing
· Henderson Boulevard Sidewalk

Water Resources
· McAllister Transmission Main
· Martin Way Stormwater Outfall
· West Bay Sewer

Year End Report - City Priorities:
At its Annual Retreat in February 2012, the Olympia City Council established priorities for the calendar year 2012. These priorities indicated the areas of work where the Council felt we needed to make substantial progress in 2012 in order to successfully move the community forward. The priorities established for 2012 include:
Invest in Downtown
Increase Commerce and Private Investment Downtown
Create a Safer, More Welcoming Downtown For All
Develop Partnerships to Expand Public Spaces

Adopt a Sustainable Budget
Build and Maintain Reserves
Protect and Strengthen Core Services
Partner With The Community to Establish Priorities and Ensure Resources Are Used Responsibly and Effectively
