Background and Analysis:
The Human Rights Campaign issued its 3rd annual Municipal Equality Index last month.  The Index assesses LGBT equality in 353 cities across the nation.  Olympia achieved a perfect 100 point rating, which was a significant increase from 2013.

After release of the 2013 Index and Olympia's less than desirable rating, the Olympia City Council adopted a Resolution supporting the Human Rights Campaign's important work and expressing the City's commitment to achieving the highest possible Index rating in future years.  The City Manager appointed a staff committee to achieve that direction.
