Background and Analysis:
On, July 27, 2023, the Thurston County Board of County Commissioners (BoCC) voted to approve a resolution for a public safety tax to be placed on the November 7, 2023 general election ballot that if passed would result in an increase in sales tax of two-tenths of one percent to be dedicated to supporting public safety in the County. The measure would distribute 75% of the revenue generated to support law enforcement and 25% in associated prosecution services, public defense, and elections security infrastructure.
Thurston County Manager Ramiro Chavez, along with Sheriff Sanders and Commissioner Mejia will provide a briefing on the ballot measure and answer questions.
