Background and Analysis:
The City’s municipal fiber system is a complex network of conduit and fiber optics serving the City of Olympia and a number of state and local agency partners. Through interagency agreements and partnerships, a core fiber backbone has been established to connect a large number of public agencies to each other and to the internet. A comprehensive, citywide network is not in place or foreseeable in the near-term.
Staff will provide an update on municipal fiber history and current partnerships.
