Background and Analysis:
In 2019, the State Department of Health (DOH) awarded the City a $2,658,320 Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) loan to assess the current condition of the reservoir, as well as design and construct any necessary retrofits. Based upon the condition assessment, this project is needed to bring the reservoir up to current seismic codes, rehabilitate reservoir appurtenances, and recoat the interior and exterior of the reservoir.
The City selected Gray and Osborne, Inc. through a competitive process to complete the assessment and project design. Completion of this project will bring the reservoir up to current standards for public health and safety.
Climate Analysis:
The approval of a bid to construct seismic upgrades and rehabilitate interior and exterior coatings to the Boulevard Road Reservoir does not have a direct effect on greenhouse gas emissions.
The Drinking Water Utility addresses greenhouse gas emissions by using green power. Additionally, the Drinking Water Utility implements water conservation programs which educate customers on water efficiency practices.
Public Works staff will request that contractors working on the site limit idling of equipment.
