Presenter:

Discussion to be led by Commission Chair

Background and Analysis:

The Commission has selected the morning (9 a.m. to 1 p.m.) of Saturday, September 26, 2015, for an annual retreat. The LOTT Boardroom has been reserved for this event.

Retreat planning is being done by the full Commission. To date Commission discussion of the format has focused on the broad topics of downtown and the economy, plus Commission procedures and relationships. Tentative guests include the City’s new economic development director, Renée Sunde, and the yet-to-be selected downtown strategy consultant.  (See minutes of June 15 meeting for more information.)

City staff is to present a specific proposed retreat format at the Commission’s July 20 meeting.  Staff seeks further discussion and possible direction regarding these topics, including whether agenda items should be facilitated by the Chair, City staff or a third-party.

Neighborhood/Community Interests:

Minimal; the Commission’s retreat is open to the public to observe and a few interested parties usually attend.

Options:

Provide direction to Staff as the Commission deems appropriate.

Financial Impact:

Support for one annual Commission retreat is funded in Community Planning and Development Department budget.
