The City Council Guidebook's primary purpose is to serve as a reference guide for Councilmembers. It also contains useful information on common practices and policies as it relates to the City of Olympia.

On October 23, 2023, the City Council approved the City Council Guidebook. Staff will discuss proposed changes to the Guidebook as it relates to Interjurisdictional assignments, the Independent Salary Commission, the process for updating the guidebook, the role of the Civilian Police Auditor, process for filling Council vacancies, special recognitions and proclamations, and recommendations on how to manage conflict.
