Background and Analysis:
The Public Works Drinking Water Utility requires replacement of two (2) Step Vans to support ongoing operational needs.
Fleet Operations Services conducted extensive research to identify suitable vehicles for replacement of existing vehicles that have reached the end of their useful life. Utilizing the Department of Enterprise Services Master Contract No. 14022, Gordon Trucks, Inc., dba Freightliner Northwest, was the vendor able to provide Step Vans that best meet the needs of the Drinking Water Utility's requirements.
Climate Analysis:
While diesel vehicles contribute to greenhouse gas emissions, the selected model complies with current EPA emissions standards and will be maintained under a strict preventive schedule to minimize environmental impact. Fleet Operations have also transitioned from diesel to renewable diesel, resulting in significant emissions reductions. While not all heavy-duty vehicles are feasible to electrify at this time, this shift has still produced a substantial environmental benefit.
Equity Analysis:
This Agreement has no implications regarding the City's equity work and goals.
