Background and Analysis:
The City of Olympia, in cooperation with the City of Tumwater, applied for a grant through Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) to improve the interconnectivity of pedestrian, bicycle, and street facilities on Mottman Road. The project will provide continuity for pedestrians and cyclists where it currently does not exist within the project limits that extend into both the City of Olympia and City of Tumwater. See attached Project Overview and Vicinity Map for additional details about the project.

In May 2023, WSDOT awarded the Cities a $7,608,000 grant through the Connecting Washington (CWA) grant program. The grant funding will be divided proportionately with the City of Tumwater. The Interlocal Agreement authorizes the City of Olympia to be the lead agency to administer and manage the grant funding to design and construct the project.
