Background and Analysis:
On September 25, 2018, the Olympia City Council authorized the acquisition of real property located at 112 4th Ave W (the Property) to be used to support mixed use development including commercial, residential, civic use, and structured parking.
Recognizing that an extended period of time will be required to accomplish the necessary public process to determine the elements of the contemplated future development, the City entered into an agreement with South Puget Sound Community College (SPSCC) for the vacant space at 112 4th Ave W to be leased on a year-to-year basis.
Due to impacts related to the Covid pandemic SPSCC decided not to continue with their lease of the space. The City and the Evergreen State College (TESC) have reached an agreement to have continue the effort of utilizing the space for higher education and workforce related purposes.
The lease to TESC is in direct alignment with Comprehensive Plan objectives:
