Background and Analysis:

The City of Olympia Parks, Arts and Recreation hired a temporary Well Host and Seasonal Park Ranger to be stationed at the Artesian Commons Park from June 1, 2016 through October 2016. The goals of these positions are to improve the water users experience, promote positive activities, gain compliance to park rules and regulations and provide a safe and welcoming environment for all. To achieve these goals the staff provide daily activities for park visitors, support community and City programs in the park, greet people gathering water, clean up litter, monitor behaviors, and educate those who are violating rules.

Neighborhood/Community Interests (if known):

The Olympia Downtown Association (ODA) and the Parking and Business Improvement Area Board (PBIA) are both interested in activities that occur at the Artesian Commons.  Many members of the public are interested in this area as well.  The well is frequented by many who come to get water from the artesian well.
