Background and Analysis:
In December 2011, the Olympia City Council passed an ordinance banning the use of personal fireworks within the City. This followed an advisory vote by the citizens on the November 8, 2011 ballot supporting a ban, 57.14% - 42.86%.  The City of Lacey has a similar ban that was in effect in 2012. This is the first 4th of July holiday for the ban in Olympia.

Attached is a flyer issued jointly by the cities of Lacey and Olympia describing the ban and alternate celebration ideas including professionally operated public fireworks displays.
