Background and Analysis:

National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day is recognized each January 9 in support of the men and women who serve their communities in law enforcement agencies.

For most, being a law enforcement officer is not just a job, it is a calling. It is a call to services made more difficult in the midst of global pandemic and the uncertainty of the last few years.

This recognition is an expression of gratitude to the 110 men and women of the Olympia Police Department who work to realize OPD’s mission to consistently earn the trust of Olympia’s residents and visitors and for their dedication to duty and service to our community.
