Further discussion of the scope and format for OPC's briefings about downtown to take place during 2015.

Background and Analysis:
At their October 20 Meeting, the Planning Commission chose 3 topics related to downtown for the focus of their downtown briefings in 2015. The Commission also discussed the format for these briefings. See Attachment 1 for a summary.

Much information related to these topics has been previously provided to the public, such as through Community Renewal Area and Sea Level Rise briefings. As the Commission would like to avoid hearing "the same old" information repeated, tonight they will discuss what questions still need to answered about each topic. Some information may be readily available, while other can inform needs for the downtown scoping or planning process. If significant new information is needed to make an OPC downtown briefing successful then the work request may be folded into the broader downtown scoping process.

The Council's Land Use & Environment Committee will discuss scoping for the downtown plan at their December 11, 2014 meeting. CP&D Director Keith Stahley has asked the Planning Commission Chair to participate on behalf of the Commission.

The Planning Commission's 2014-2015 Work Plan includes 1-3 briefings about downtown. A purpose for these briefings is for Commissioners and public in attendance to increase their awareness about Downtown issues and history as the City prepares for a Downtown planning process in 2015.
