Background:

The first public workshop to form Olympia’s Downtown Strategy was held on November 21, 2015. Several members of the stakeholder work group were in attendance.

To prepare for the December 2 meeting, members should review the attached images of the mapping exercise conducted at the 11/21 workshop and last stakeholder work group meeting. At the meeting, staff & consultants will lead discussion with the group:

For those who attended the Nov 21 event, what were your observations? What do you think went well; didn’t go so well? What were some lessons learned that we can apply to future workshops? Those who were unable to attend the workshop are encouraged to participate in the discussion as well: have you heard feedback from other community members? What general advice can you provide?

Based on participation and/or review of the mapping exercise, what do you see as common themes or differences? What potential alternatives arise for downtown? If you attended the workshop, what did you learn at your table?

(We recognize some of the details of the maps do not show up well in the attached photographs. That’s okay for this discussion. What can you observe? Larger print versions will be provided to assist with this discussion at the meeting.)

Overview of next steps in the process and for the stakeholder work group.

o                     Do you perceive of any hot topics we should be prepared to address?

o                     What other questions do you have for staff or consultants?
