Background and Analysis:

The Human Rights Campaign is the largest civil rights organization working to achieve equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Americans.  The Human Rights Campaign envisions a world where lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people are embraced as full members of society at home, at work and in every community.

Each year, the Human Rights Campaign rates 353 cities from every state in the nation through the Municipal Equality Index (MEI), which examines the laws, policies, and services of municipalities and rates them on the basis of their inclusivity of LGBT people who live and work there.

Olympia received a score of 100 on the 2016 MEI.  Staff will provide an overview of some of the past and on-going activities and programs that aided us in achieving a score of 100 for the third straight year.
