Background and Analysis:
The Olympia Parks, Arts and Recreation Department (OPARD) is planning on applying for at least eight park acquisition and development grants this year. Several of these grant applications require formal Council authorization.

In 2016, OPARD is planning on applying for the following grants:

* Woodruff Park Sprayground (development) - Recreation and Conservation Office (RCO) Washington Wildlife & Recreation Program (WWRP), Local Parks Category, $500,000

* Grass Lake Nature Park Trail (development) - RCO WWRP Trails Category, $500,000

* Kaiser Woods (acquisition) - RCO WWRP Local Parks Category, $552,044

* Morse-Merryman Parcel/LBA Woods (acquisition) - RCO WWRP Local Parks Category, $1 million and Thurston Conservation Futures, $500,000

* West Bay Woods (acquisition) - RCO WWRP Urban Wildlife, $300,000

* Percival Landing Bulkhead (development) - FEMA Hazard Mitigation, $500,000 - $1 million and Washington State Historical Society Heritage Capital Project, $500,000

* Priest Point Park Mission Creek Trail (development) - REI, $12,000

These projects are in the recently-adopted 2016 Parks, Arts and Recreation Plan which had substantial public input.
