Background and Analysis:
Senior Services for South Sound works to improve the quality of life for people as they age by offering a wide range of programs for seniors and their families, addressing the ever-changing demands of our community and senior concerns. The organization empowers people as they age to remain engaged in the community, to be valued for their wisdom and experience, and to have a positive sense of self-worth.
In June, Senior Services for South Sound celebrated 50 years of dedicated support to seniors in our community. Their service programs include Brighter Days Adult Day Program, Meals on Wheels, Senior Community Dining, Senior Transportation, Care Connection Caregiver Registry, Supportive Services, Health and Wellness Programs, Adult Learning, and Independent Living Programs. Their largest program is the Senior Nutrition Program, provided in both Mason and Thurston counties and provides more than 130,000 meals each year to 3,000 individual seniors.
The proclamation recognizes 50 years of enhancing the quality of life for those aging in our community.
