Background and Analysis:
In the fall of 2023, the City of Olympia engaged the services of Human Resource Compensation Consultants (HRCC) to conduct a classification and pay equity study to review Independent, IUOE, and AFSCME represented positions. The goal of the classification and pay equity study was to develop a proposal and process to internally align jobs and ensure pay ranges are competitive within the market in order for the City to attract and retain talented staff.
The City also performed a pay equity analysis to determine whether there were differences in employee compensation that could not be explained by job-related differences.
Staff and the consultant will share the scope, approach, recommendation, and financial impact of the study. Staff will also share the results of the pay equity analysis.
