Background and Analysis:
Suicide is a major public health concern and a leading cause of death in the United States. Suicide Prevention Awareness Month provides a dedicated time for all to come together to address the difficult topic of suicide. Bringing awareness can help to provide resources for those in need and their loved ones, give communities tools and education, continue research and innovations, continuously engage in policy work and drive thought leadership with passion and intent.
Climate Analysis:
This is not expected to impact carbon emissions.
Equity Analysis:
Suicide disproportionately impacts many marginalized communities, especially youth, due to experiences of discrimination, violence and denial of life opportunities. It is important to address suicide in these communities, advocate for services that are culturally competent and show our support.
Financial Impact:
No financial impact.
